AD 427 were made by Dave Perry of Perry Autos in the mid eighties, about 80 were
made. Roger Wooley who was associated with producing the AD bodies later developed the RW 427 which
was to become the GD427 of Gardner Douglas.
BRA (Beribo Replica Automobiles) run by partners
John Berry and Peter Ibbotson in Doncaster made the BRA 289 from 1981 to 1998 and sold about 265 this was the first 289 replica
to be produced in the UK,
in the later days of production it was called the Tyler 289.
BRA also made the BRA 427 from 1984 to 1986 being designed by Gerry Hawkridge of Hawk Cars fame, but
only 38 were sold before the project was sold to a guy in Spain after rumours of pressure by Ford/AC to halt production.
CAR produced the CAR 289 and CAR 427 between 1983 and 1984, very little
else is know about these cars.
Cheetah Viper were made by cheetah cars run by Kevin Mason between 1984 and
1986, these cars were not well received by the press and so only eight were thought to have been made.
CK 427 were made by CK/ASD between 1987 and 1992 producing 12 cars,
The CK 427 was originally Gravetti. But with input from Bob Eggington it turned into a well sorted car.
Euro 427 were originally produced by Fiero Factory from the turn of the millennium,
but after bad press it was sold to Nigel Ramsey around June 2004, who in turn stopped production in mid 2005 after
a serious 'altercation' allegedly over a debt.
Gravetti/GE 427 were made by Gravetti Engineering based in Wiltshire, from 1984
to 1988 and sold 72 cars.
Gravetti didn't have the best of reputations and after being taken over the car was called GE427,
later still around 1987/1988 it changed to CK427.
Hensen 427 was a one off produced by Hensen Motors in 1985.
Ivicta were made by Invicta Replicas in 1985, was very similar to the BRA 427
only two were made.
KD 289 were made by KD kits in 1981/1982 only a few were made. The
KD project was later sold to a company called Roman Kit Cars who have since disappeared.
KF Premier started production in 1990 by Ken Freeman and Alan Frew, this later
turned into the AK Sports Cars AK427 of today. Based in Peterborough its now a family business run by Ken with
the help of his wife Linda and sons John and Dan.
King Cobra were made by Libra Cars run by Dave Jones from 1984 to 1987
producing 26 cars.
Mark Phillips 427 were made between 1991 and 1993 producing 36 cars.
Martin Matou were produced by Martin in 1992, this was French based Pilgrim rip
off, selling only five cars.
MMS Meca/SAS was set up in 1998 by Terry Sands. Unsure as to whether any cars
were produced.
Python were produced by Unique Autocraft, formally Pete & Marts Rod
Shop which moved to Harlow, Essex in the early eighties. Between 1982 and 1993 they made 90 cars.The body was taken
from a consignment DJ Sports Cars' shells which was sold off after a German customer had commissioned a cobra replica.
Along with Dax, also made in Harlow, the Python is thought to
be the first Cobra replica to be produced in the UK, Dax narrowly beating the Python to the market because they
already had a chassis designed.
SCS Roadster were made by SCS between 1986 and 1987 producing 20 cars.
Sheldonhurst 427 were made by Sheldonhurst, run by Bill Cook and aided by Terry Sands, from
1984 to 1987 selling a dozen or so cars.This car had wider front arches than most to accommodate the Granada running
gear.
This later spawned the Brightwheel and Cobretti cars.
SR V8 were originally made by southern Roadcraft owned by Ian and Brian Nichols
and based in Brighton, who originally started by using chassis made by Pat Hanson and early bodies from DJ Sports Cars.
After a while they took the logical step of producing both body and chassis them selfs.It was produced
between 1984 and 1997 selling around 200 cars. The SR V8 is now being produced by Madgwick Cars run by Dave Curruthers.
Brian Nichols now runs Roadcraft Repower [see Engines and Boxes]
TA Predator was set up in 1990 by TA Design, its unknown if any cars were produced.
T.I. Tuscan were made by T.I. Motors owned by Tim Ivory between 1985 and 1986
selling 11 cars, T.I. Motors were originally an Unique Autocraft agent and their cars are thought to be very
similar.
York 427 were made by York Cars between 1983 and 1984 no other info is available.
